在80年代末所涌现的一大批重金属乐队中，Mr Big算是比较有特色的一支的。他们玩的既非暴风骤雨的鞭挞金属，也非旋律悦耳的流行金属，他们在传统的重金属中加入了较重的蓝调乐的成份，但又非是哀怨的；同时，他们也是重金属乐队中为数不多的能唱民谣的乐队，因此，与其他的重金属乐队相比，他们的音乐显得心平气和、干干净净，富于技巧变化，曲子的音乐性很强且富有整体感。
